York County is famous in history books throughout the world due to the battles at Yorktown and the eventual surrender of General Cornwallis to General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. While Yorktown, along the York River still maintains a beautiful historic community as well as shops and restaurants along the waterfront the rest of the county has transformed into a beautiful bedroom community. The rest of the county is comprised of Seaford, Grafton, and Tabb, each of which has their own distinct style and feel. York County is known throughout the region for the excellent reputation of their public school system.
